Cal Poly HVAC Industry Advisory Board

California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo

HVAC&R is BACK!

Great news for the HVAC&R industry: the HVAC&R Industry Advisory Board is alive and well. The Board was created through the efforts of Jesse Maddren, a full-time professor in the Cal Poly Mechanical Engineering Department, and an ardent supporter of the HVAC&R industry. The primary goal of the Board is to re-invigorate the HVAC&R related coursework and interest at Cal Poly, with the ultimate goal of providing out industry with a wealth of talent for the long term future.

The Board is comprised of HVAC&R industry professionals (also Cal Poly alumni) and has been meeting biannually for the past three years. These meetings have been full of energy and great ideas, and have resulted in a number of goals and activities for the near future. Through our involvement we will be able to guide the HVAC&R program from the "inside-out" as opposed to the "outside-in".

Cal Poly grads and interested industry professionals: What can you do?

  • If you are a Cal Poly grad, please send two copies of your business card to a Board member so that they can be included in the Cal Poly HVAC&R "Business Card Wall of Fame"
  • If your company is interested and able to hire a student for an internship or co-op in the future, please contact Jesse Maddren, John Boncich or Tom Duval. Also download the 2008 Cal Poly ASHRAE student resume CD by clicking here. (zip file last updated 4/25/08)
  • If you are interested in serving on the Board, please contact Larry Sun or Ron Sweet. We hope to be increasing our numbers as we better understand our specific goals.

Thank you for your support and I hope you will join me in welcoming HVAC&R back to Cal Poly.
